While the whole planet was excitedly awaiting the launch of new iPad models, Apple has limited itself -for the moment- to presenting a new Apple Pencil with a hidden USB-C port that incorporates features such as magnetic docking or millimeter precision. While this is not entirely true, the company has in fact announced a new iPad…
Apple will release a special edition version of its 10th generation iPad (2022) for China. A new iPad that incorporates a very special feature for the Asian territory.
Apple announces a new iPad for China
From Apple have announced through a press release the arrival of a new iPad model along with the new Apple Pencil with USB-C to the far eastern country. China will welcome a new 10th generation iPad with eSIM support.
As reported by Apple, the new iPad for China will be available for pre-order from October 19 and will land in stores with the official launch on October 25.
There is currently only a single operator that allows the use of eSIM technology in China. eSIM cards are electronic SIM cards that allow you to activate a mobile data plan without the need to use a physical SIM card. With eSIM support, iPad users will be able to use multiple eSIM cards and multiple phone numbers.
The eSIM support for China is only available on the iPad 10th generation (Wi-Fi + Cellular). All other Apple products in the Asian country do not offer eSIM.
In Apple’s press release the company also provides details on how to incorporate an eSIM on the iPad from Settings and how to activate a new mobile data plan. The arrival of this special new iPad model has come just hours after it became known that iPhone 15 sales in China were lower than expected. Tim Cook visited the country to attend an eSports tournament of Tencent’s “Honor of Kings” game at an Apple Store.
