Introduction: A Dynamic Start for Apple in 2024 The initial half of 2024 promises to be bustling with activity for Apple. Following the highly anticipated launch of Apple Vision Pro in February, the company gears up for the release of the new generation of various iPad and MacBook models. This week, the reliable Bloomberg analyst, Mark Gurman, has affirmed that Apple will unveil new devices in March or April.
Gurman’s report reiterates our previous insights, confirming that Apple will introduce the revamped iPad Air, iPad Pro, and MacBook Air during the spring, although an official event confirmation is pending.
This revelation aligns with recent reports from The Elec, asserting that the production phase of the new iPad Pro featuring OLED display will commence this week, perfectly timed for a potential April release.
Anticipated Releases in Spring: iPad Air and More After an entire year without updates to any of its iPad models, Apple is making a robust entrance in 2024 with fresh iterations of iPad, iPad mini, iPad Air, and iPad Pro. However, they won’t all hit the shelves simultaneously.
In the early months of the year, Apple is expected to unveil the 10.9-inch iPad Air and one of the most intriguing additions to this year’s lineup – the 12.9-inch iPad Air. The latter, joining the iPad Pro as the only two models with screens of these dimensions, is rumored to boast a captivating redesign, as suggested by recently leaked images.
iPad Pro’s OLED Debut and Performance Boost The iPad Pro’s debut with OLED display in its 11-inch and 13-inch variants is among the most anticipated releases of 2024. Beyond this substantial update, the tablet will undergo a refresh with the introduction of the M3 chip, along with enhancements to the camera module.
To complement this launch, there are speculations that Apple will introduce an updated Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro featuring an aluminum structure and an enlarged trackpad.
Revolutionary MacBook Air with M3 Chip In a departure from the previous year’s strategy, Apple plans to launch both the 13-inch and 15-inch models of the MacBook Air with the M3 chip simultaneously this year, instead of staggered releases. In the prior timeline, the 13-inch MacBook Air launched in July 2022, while the inaugural 15-inch MacBook Air hit the market in June 2023.
Gurman suggests that the upcoming MacBook Air M3 models, currently in development, might feature a chip with a CPU and GPU core count similar to the M2 chip in current models but with significantly improved performance owing to the advanced technology embedded in the M3 processor.
