The Apple Vision Pro were presented a few months ago with a rather high starting price that makes it difficult for most users to access them. Because of this, Apple is rumored to be preparing a cheap and affordable version of the Vision Pro, but now we know that they will not be as cheap as expected.
To make its glasses cheaper, Apple plans to cut the Vision Pro’s specs by eliminating the EyeSight functionality that projects a very realistic 3-D image of the user’s eyes onto an external OLED panel or by reducing its power. But this will not prevent them from remaining quite expensive for most.
Cheap Apple Vision won’t be cheap
Whether something is cheap or expensive depends on many things. Mainly on how much money you have, but also on what features that device you buy has. In fact, Apple Vision Pro’s themselves cost less than all the devices they can replace. However, it seems clear that the $3,500 Apple is asking may be considered expensive for the vast majority of potential users.
Mark Gurman, an Apple journalist with a wealth of information about the company, has shared his information about these allegedly more affordable Apple Vision. According to his information, Apple has internally discussed prices ranging from $1,500 to $2,500 for the upcoming “low-cost” Apple Vision Pro model.

This cheap model of the Vision Pro will reportedly feature lower resolution displays, an iPhone processor instead of a Mac chip, remove the EyeSight feature, and include fewer external cameras and sensors. Clearly it will be a different device that should be more affordable, should all these features be removed.
However, $1,500 will still be quite a steep price for many users. True, it would move within Apple’s usual margins, but it would still be an expensive device. That said, if they cost $2,500, they will still be too expensive for virtually everyone.
We still don’t know when the Apple Vision Pro will be officially launched, so this supposedly more affordable version will still take some time to reach the market. By early 2024 we should see Apple’s glasses on the market and, from there, the company will make decisions.
