Apple’s Scary Fast is generating a lot of interest among iMac and MacBook Pro users. It will be the two computers that will be the focus of the news, although there may be some surprises.
The Apple Scary Fast can be followed in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands at 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 31 (00:00 a.m. in the Canary Islands). It will be broadcast live on YouTube, the company’s website and the Apple TV application. As always, the chosen name, which could be translated as “terrifyingly fast”, hides something related to the content of the event beyond being a clear reference to the celebration of Halloween. In this case, everything seems to indicate that it alludes to the new line of M3 processors. As it usually happens, Mark Gurman has been responsible for leaking most of the news that Apple will present at the Scary Fast. The journalist and Bloomberg insider has assured that this morning we are going to know a new line of iMac computers. It is worth remembering that the company’s desktop all-in-ones have not been renewed since the summer of 2021, when they completely revamped their aesthetics and abandoned the use of Intel processors.
According to Mark Gurman, the 2023 iMac will be almost identical in aesthetic terms to the 2021 iMac. In fact, there will only be some minor changes in the design of the stand and in the variety of colors available. However, the 24-inch models will feature the new M3 chip inside. He also states that, presumably, none of the available versions will have the M2 processor that the latest MacBook Air line has. In this regard, he assures that we will have to wait until 2024 for this laptop to be renewed.
New MacBook Pro will also be announced
However, the M3 processors in the new iMacs will not be the most powerful. Their higher-performance versions will be equipped in the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, which, respectively, will feature the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips. The former will reach 30 graphics cores, while the latter will reach 40 (the iMac’s M3 will remain at 10). Therefore, these laptops will be completely focused on the professional environment.
In this regard, there will be new configurations with 24 and 48 GB of RAM. A 96 GB version will also be introduced. As we said above regarding the iMac 2023, all of them will be almost aesthetically the same as their predecessors. Mark Gurman also indicates that the 13-inch MacBook Pro will be the only one that will not receive the M3 chip in order to become a cheaper alternative for users. Apple will most likely also use the event to unveil its new Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse, which will be the first to dispense with the Lightning port and incorporate USB-C. It also seems unlikely that a new generation of iPad will be announced, although there is more uncertainty in this regard. Beyond the leaks, Apple usually keeps an ace up its sleeve to surprise its followers during its keynotes.
