Lately X has been getting a lot of new features that are completely changing the social network. Tweets are no longer called tweets, the platform includes premium monthly subscription plans and is even charging for basic functions such as posting content to unverified users. But not all of X’s changes are negative; some new features are very worthwhile.
X announced plans to introduce calling and video calling under Elon Musk’s plans to turn the social network into a “super app.” And now, with the latest X update, calling and video calling are now available. We tell you everything you need to know and how to enable or disable this feature.
X incorporates calls and video calls
The social network “directed” by Linda Yaccarino aims to get closer to other applications in the sector such as Instagram or WhatsApp with the incorporation of calls and video calls in the direct messages section.
With the new feature, from now on X users will have the ability to send and receive audio calls and video calls through the official iOS and Android app.
Thanks to the integration of X in the CallKit API, calls and video calls from the social network will also appear on the iPhone lock screen, just as if you were receiving a normal and ordinary call.
How to turn X calls and video calls on and off on your iPhone
X’s new features can be very useful for working on projects, creating and sharing in communities, or just chatting with friends and family. But it’s possible (and reasonable) that many X users may want to disable calls to avoid distractions on their iPhone or Android smartphone.
Follow these instructions to enable or disable X calls and video calls:
- Open the X application.
- Click on your profile picture.
- Then go to the settings section.
- Go to the Privacy and security section.
- Go to Direct Messages.
- Enable or disable the Activate calls and video calls checkbox.
X will give you the ability to receive calls or video calls from contacts, people you follow or only verified users.
Among the upcoming new features that will land on the banished bird’s social network, X is also expected to include a new video game streaming platform, which Elon Musk has already tested by playing Diablo IV.
With the introduction of this new feature, the social network aims to rival other applications on the market that have been offering this feature for a long time. What do you think about calls in X? Do you think the social network needed this feature?
